Port Blair, Aug 17: A Ceremonial function was organised to mark the visit of Swarnim Vijay Varsh Flame to Air Force Station Car Nicobar. Various officials of Civil Administration primarily including Mr Yash Chaudhary IAS, District Commissioner, Car Nicobar, Mr Rajiv, Superintendent of Police, Car Nicobar along with other dignitaries and war veterans attended the event. The ceremony began with the arrival of the Victory Flame which was honoured by a ceremonial salute.
The August gathering was briefed about the 1971 war in general and in particular about the role of Armed Forces in the ensuing victory. All the veterans present were felicitated by the Station Commander, Air Force Station Car Nicobar.
The event culminated by paying homage to the martyrs and singing of the National Anthem. Thereafter, a victory run by 200 personnel of the Armed Forces was conducted at Air Force Station Car Nicobar along with the Victory Flame. As part of the Green India Campaign, a tree plantation drive was also conducted in the premises of Air Force Station Car Nicobar.
