
Port Blair, Aug 17: On the instruction of Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament & Mr. Rangalal Halder, President Pradesh Congress Committee A&N Islands and with the aim to encourage maximum student participation and promote healthy and fierce competition, the National Students Union of India A&N Islands organised an open knockout carrom tournament today at Gandhi Bhawan, Port Blair.
The Chief Guest during the opening ceremony was Mr. Sudeep Rai Sharma, Senior Congress Leader & Ex-Councillor PBMC, Guest of honour was Mr. Mahinder Prasad, Ex-NSUI President and Ex-Councillor PBMC & Special Invitees were Mr. R.K.Raj, Senior Congress leader, Mr. Rajendran (Raju) Ex-NSUI President & Mrs. Daljeet Kaur, Congress Leader.
The Chief Guest inaugurated the programme. The entire programme was guided by Mr. Mohd. Zubair, President City Congress and the team NSUI was led by Mr. M.A Sajid, Ex-NSUI State President. There were 30 teams who took part in the competition.
The closing ceremony was held at evening in which the Chief Guest was Mr. K. Ganeshan, Guest of Honour was Mr. Masih Lugun, General Secretary Pradesh Congress Committee A&N Islands & Mr.John Robert Babu, Ex-State President Pradesh Youth Congress. Special Invitees were Mr. Elairaja(Alsu), President Pradesh Youth Congress, Mr. Abdul Islam President North BCC, Mr. Shaktivelu President Garacharma BCC, Mr. Najib Siddique, Miss. Bindiya Banerjee & Mr. Nand Kishor, Vice President’s of Youth Congress, Mr. Vikram State General secretary Youth Congress, Mr. Raj Reddy and Mr. Sonu Raj, Congress leaders.
All the top 3 winners were awarded cash prize and rest participants were given participation certificate during closing ceremony. The whole programme was managed and coordinated by Mr. Saurav Nair, NSUI State General Secretary. Other office bearers of NSUI present during the occasion was Mr. Nishit Biswas, Mr. Maheshwaran, Mr. Rajeev, State secretaries of NSUI, Mr. Mukesh, Mr. Robin, Mr. Johny, Mr. Sahil, Mr. Aditya, Mr. Mahaveer etc.
