
Port Blair, Aug 05: In partial modification of earlier Covid-19 guidelines for incoming passengers in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the South Andaman District Magistrate has issued new order today.
As per the new order all incoming passengers from mainland will have to undergo mandatory RTPCR test on arrival at Port Blair in addition to the compulsory negative RTPCR test report conducted 48 hours prior to their boarding for Port Blair from mainland.
All such passengers will have to undergo compulsory home quarantine or institutional quarantine until the reports of their test on arrival at Port Blair are found negative.
Passengers found positive as per the test done on arrival at Port Blair shall be kept under Institutional/Home Quarantine as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in Government facilities or will have the option to stay in identified hotels on payment basis. Any person violating the above directions shall be liable to be fined to the tune of Rs.5,000/- each time.
Meanwhile, new guidelines for passengers travelling to inter-island have also been issued according to which the movement of passenger convoys through Andaman Truck Road shall be permitted in supersession of Order No.580 dt. 26.04.2021.
All passengers travelling to SwarajDweep and Shaheed Dweep shall undergo mandatory COVID (RAT/RTPCR) unless they have a valid negative RTPCR report for the test done upon their arrival at Port Blair and will be allowed to proceed further and shall be exempted from quarantine as mandated in Office Order No. 566 dated 23rd April 2021, if reports of their test are found negative.
All passengers travelling to Little Andaman shall undergo mandatory RTPCR tests and will be allowed to proceed further and shall be exempted from quarantine as mandated in Office Order No. 566 dated 23rd April 2021, if reports of their test are found negative.
All passengers travelling to North and Middle Andaman shall undergo mandatory COVID (RAT/RTPCR) unless they have a valid negative RTPCR report for the test done upon their arrival at Port Blair and will be allowed to proceed further, if reports of their test are found negative.
All passengers travelling to the Islands in the Nicobar District shall undergo mandatory RTPCR tests before boarding the vessel and will be allowed to proceed further, if reports of their test are found negative.
The new order shall come into effect from 06th August 2021 and shall remain in force till further orders.
From 3rd August all tourism activities in South Andaman and North & Middle Andaman district have been re-opened, subject to fulfillment of various SOPs issued.
