Port Blair, Aug 01: With the launch of campaign, Save a Seed, Plant Trees the District Administration has been studiously working towards promoting this campaign among the children of CCIs in Port Blair.
As a part of the campaign, plantation drive was conducted at Ferrargunj Children Home at Abhyudaya Complex and Disabled Children Home.
The plantation drive started with a small note to the children about the essence of saving, storing and planting fruit bearing trees which enables to have food security, food sovereignty as it provides us nutritious food source and fresh air to breath.
All the children actively participated in the campaign and promised to adopt one plant each so that they can learn and watch how things grow and evolve thereby inculcate the culture of planting and sowing trees so as to develop healthy eating habits. Altogether 18 saplings were planted at the complex and refreshments were also provided to the children.
The District Administration ensures to promote such campaign among the children of Child Care Institutions so that the children CCIs would be benefitted by maintaining a balanced diet to keep them healthy and fit.
