Port Blair, July 20: Mr. Vishal Jolly, Former State President BJP, A&N Islands & Member Home Ministry Advisory Committee, GoI wrote a letter to Chief Secretary, A & N Administration and demanded relaxation in lockdown norms on the occasion of “Guru Purnima” that falls on 24 July is the day that commemorates the birth of Veda Vyasa, the author of Mahabharata is a day dedicated to Gurus (teachers and mentors) is one of the most important date in the Hindu calendar because, on this day, people pay ode to their Gurus (teachers/mentors).
Similarly he informed the holy month of Sawan, also known as Sharvan, has arrived. For hindus it is time to rejoice and honour Lord Shiva. All Mondays (Somwars) which fall during Shravan month are considered highly auspicious for fasting and known as Shravan Somwar or Sawan Somwar Vrats.
In view of the above, Mr. Jolly requested for relaxation in lockdown norms to Hindus to carry out religious puja.
