Port Blair, Nov 01: The INTUC President, Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma requested the Director Information Publicity & Tourism to provide avenues to the employees of Tourism Division by way of restructuring their cadre and by proposing certain amendments in the Recruitment Rules for these posts to accomplish the target envisaged.
In a letter addressed to the Director IP&T, Mr Sharma stated that for accommodating certain categories of Group ‘C’ staff in the Grade Pay of Rs.1800/- employed in the Tourism Wing who forms the lowest rung of the functional hierarchy does not find place in the promotional hierarchy of the tourism division.
Batting for such employees Mr Sharma suggested that most of these employees are either well qualified from their initial appointment or have acquired educational qualification while in service and hence need to be accommodated in the promotional hierarchy of the Tourism Wing up to an appropriate level depending upon the qualification requirement for the promotional post. The minimum qualification for entry to government service has been upgraded to Matriculation with the implementation of Sixth Pay Commission recommendation, still more qualified people will be entering in service and if provision is made for them to get further promotion they will certainly upgrade their qualification to get promoted to next higher post. Mr Sharma said.
“As no promotional avenue exists for these category of employees, they will retire from service from the post of their initial appointment,” Mr Sharma added.
Therefore Mr Sharma also requested the Director IP&T to keep certain percentage of posts in the category of proposed Assistant Manager(Tourism) and Assistant Manager(Front Office) as promotional posts with feeder posts as Cook/Asst .cook, Bearer ,Bell Boy and General Stewart with appropriate qualification and qualifying service.
