Port Blair, July 15: Mr. Paritosh Kumar Haldar Ex-Member, A & N Pradesh Council and Ex-Pramukh, Little Andaman demanded regular Bus and Boat services to be resumed in remote Islands.
In a request sent to PMO desk today Mr. Halder mentioned that regular Bus and Boat services are badly needed for remote Islands.
Public, particularly the middle and lower middle classes of the entire North & Middle Andaman have been suffering like anything. They are not in a position to pay Rs. 2500 or more per head to private Jeep owners for travelling from Port Blair to Diglipur or vice versa.
He further pointed out that very few buses are on the road, mainly for Government servants. Particularly, the Medical patients, the farmers, daily rated Laborers and the general public have been facing much hardship. They have been paying extraordinarily hire charges to the private vehicle owners.
He added that major Islands like the entire Nicobar District, Little Andaman, Shaheed Deep and Swaraj Deep are very much cut off, the sea vassals/ ships services are the only mode of transport.
He urged the PM to make arrangements to resume the transport facilities, like buses and inter-Island ship services at the earliest.
