Port Blair, Oct 29: A week long Orientation-cum-training programme for the newly recruited grass root level extension functionaries of Agriculture Department was concluded in the Conference Hall of Directorate of Agriculture, Haddo on 26th October, 2012.
During the valedictory programme held on 26.10.2012, Mr. M.A.Salam, Director of Agriculture has requested the participants to utilize the knowledge gained during the training programme for the benefit offarming community of these Islands and also requested to update their knowledge through books, internet etc. time to time.
Participants namely Mr. Satinder Prasad, Miss Ammie, and Miss Nazneen Janish have also expressed their views about the said training programme.
Dr. G.S.Pandey, Joint Director (Agri. Engg.) and Mr. Mantu Biswas, Joint Director (Agri.), also spoke on the occasion. Mr. Anjan Kumar Das, Joint Director (Agri.), HQ proposed Vote of thanks.
During this Orientation-cum-Training Programme various topics about cultivation practices, schemes of the Department implemented in these Islands and other activities of the Department was covered by thesenior officers of Agriculture Department, Scientists from Central Agricultural Research Institute (CARI) and resource person from CIPMC, Port Blair. The participants were also taken to Organic Horticulture Farm, Sippighat, Progeny Farm, Jirkatang, SM Farm, Chouldari and in the field of some of the progressive farmers.
This training programme was organized by the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Andaman 8s Nicobar Islands for the newly recruited grass root level extension functionaries’ viz. Agriculture and Soil Conservation Field Assistants of Department of Agriculture posted in various zones from Campbell Bay to Diglipur. The main objective for organizing this orientation program e is to get acquaint the grass root level extension functionaries of the Department with the programmes and schemes of the Department and provide basic know how about the agriculture activities.
