Port Blair, Jun 16: The former Member of Parliament Mr. Bishnu Ray today interacted with a group of journalists at Phoenix Bay and discussed issues related to COVID-19 situation A&N Islands.
Talking to the media person he lauded the efforts of the present Chief Secretary Mr. Jitendra Narain and said that under the present CS of A & N Administration, things have been changed positively.
Regarding the COVID-19 situations in Islands he said that he has written a letter to the Prime Minister of India and demanded that all the incoming passengers should be kept under Institutional quarantine and not under home quarantine.
He further pointed out that he has also demanded for ICU specialists for the ICU unit at A & N Islands, as it is available in other states of mainland, so that ICU patients can get better care.
The former Member of Parliament demanded 100% vaccination of people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands at earliest. In his letter written to the PM of India, he has also demanded vaccination of Tribal Groups.
On Administration’s work he pointed out that two RT-PCR machines have been brought for Medical College in Andaman at the cost 3 crore 42 lakhs. Earlier the test capacity of Andaman and Nicobar Islands was nearly 350 from ICMR and 250 from Medical college, but now after the induction of two RT-PCR machines more test could be conducted in islands, which is only possible because of the proactive steps taken by the Chief Secretary of A & N Administration.
He further lauded the efforts of administration for ensuring the availability of Doctors and specialists in Covid wards, round the clock and appointment of DANICs officers to oversee the functions of GB Pant Hospital and other COVID Care Centers.
When asked about the political ambition of the former Member of Parliament he said “I am a BJP worker and till my last breath I will work for the party, I will be always be working for the Sangathan”.
