Port Blair, Oct 29: Just when it appeared that quarry owners have sidelined Congress Party after arrest of some prominent quarry owners, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today showed everyone that ‘All is Well’ between Congress and Quarry Owner.
Quarry owners, who virtually finance the entire politics of A & N Islands, were reportedly upset and concerned after arrest of some very prominent Quarry Owners, who were also leaders of Congress Party.
Today Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma along with the quarry operators called on the Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh at Raj Niwas.
The President, Pradesh Congress Committee raised issues related to quarrying operations. He was informed that the quarry permits will be issued on the basis of auction for which public notices have already been issued.
He also raised the question of grant of explosives for quarrying purpose. He was assured by the Lt Governor that the explosives will be issued to the persons depending upon their capacity and the whole process will be streamlined so that developmental activities are carried out expeditiously and prices of products can be regulated.
Some other vital issues of developmental activities were also raised and the LG assured him that the Administration will be examining them expeditiously.
