Port Blair, May 28: During this Covid pandemic, when all the transportation facilities are suspended, the Nicobar District Administration has again proved that whatever the situation may be, they are ready to help remote Islanders in all possible ways by rescuing two patients from Afra Bay village.
As per information received a signal was sent by the community health officer of Health and Wellness Center of Afra Bay where Mr. Sangeet mentioning the critical situation of Mr. James, a 61 year old patient who was facing severe breathing problems, heavy fever and vomiting and the other patient Mr. Norbat, a 23 year old youth, who sustained injuries in head and different parts of the body, after diving from dinghy. Both needed immediate medical attention.
As per source the community health center of Afra Bay had only two oxygen cylinders one of which was already over because it was consumed by Mr. James, who was facing severe breathing issues.
Acting swiftly the Nicobar District administration arranged a speed boat MV Long Island which sailed from Nancowry in the early hours of 30th May to rescue both patients and reached Campbell Bay at around 4:30 PM with both patients.
As per information received now both the patients are out of danger and are stable at CHC Campbell Bay.
