Port Blair, May 27: The state unit of Bharatiya Janta Party, A & N Islands has urged demanded assessment of loss caused by cyclone Yaas and sanction of compensation to general public.
The Core-Committee Member & Former State President, BJP-Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Vishal Jolly, who is also a Member of Home Ministry Advisory Committee has written a letter in this regard to the Chief Secretary of A & N Administration and pointed out that the cyclone YAAS has caused significant loss to property, damaging people’s house, shops and destroying plantations and other agricultural crops causing huge financial loss.
“Islanders are already reeling under the pandemic, at such a time, the cyclone YAAS has caused heavy damage to the property due to which islanders are looking towards the administration for some relief,” Mr. Jolly added.
The former president of BJP’s A & N State unit demanded e to conduct survey to assess the extent of damage caused by the cyclone YAAS in various parts of the islands and also sanction relief/compensation package for those affected by the cyclone.
Many minor and major incidents of damages and injuries have been reported across Andaman and Nicobar Islands due to falling of trees and massive branches over power cables and houses.
Several such reports have been obtained from various parts of A & N Islands like Baratang, Middle Andaman, Port Blair city, Car Nicobar and Great Nicobar.
