Port Blair, May 19: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament requested the Chief Secretary to request Govt. of India to supply some doses of DRDO’s 2-DG drug for the COVID-19 patients of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
This is a matter of great pride that India’s premier R&D organization, the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has developed a wonder drug 2-DG, which reportedly works wonderfully well in reducing the Oxygen Dependency in COVID-19 patients.
Considering the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Andaman and Nicobar Islands also increase in number of patients, dependent of Oxygen supply, he requested the Chief Secretary to request the Government of India to supply some doses of 2-DG drugs for Andaman patients so that we can reduce the number of Oxygen Dependent COVID-19 patients in Andaman. This will in turn, reduce the number of deaths in Andaman due to Corona.
