Port Blair, May 17: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Andaman & Nicobar Islands has requested the Chief Secretary of A&N Administration to provide 03 buses to Diglipur for transportation of college students, who came from mainland because of lockdown but are now stranded at Port Blair.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Mr. Sharma informed that there are altogether 61 college students, who came from mainland (Pondicherry and Bangalore between 2nd-6th May, 2021) and belong to Rangat, Mayabunder and Diglipur tehsil in North and Middle Andaman and are currently stationed at Port Blair due to lockdown and transportation problems and most of them are girl students.
“The quarantine period of the students came from mainland is also completed. They are now facing financial problems for lodging and boarding at Port Blair for their prolong stay”, the MP added.
