Port Blair, Apr 30: In view of the second wave of COVID-19 cases in A&N Islands, and in order to prevent the spread of infections among the PVTGs, Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, District Magistrate, South Andaman District has issued prohibitory orders for the fishermen as well as the general public to not to venture into some specific areas or anywhere close to the tribal buffer zones and not to come in contact with the PVTGs at any costs.
The areas are entire area in South Andaman as notified vide Section1(a) in the PAT regulation vide No.ANPATR/3(1)/1 dated 02nd April 1957 published in the Official Gazette vide No.3 dated 02nd April 1957.
And also the entire area comprised in and enclosed within the coastal lines of the following islands. Rutland, North Sentinel, Cinque, Passage, Sisters, Brothers, South Sentinel and other Islets situated southward the territory of the A&N Islands upto and including Little Andaman.
“Anybody violating the above direction shall be liable for strict penal action as per the provisions of Section 154 of the Cr.P.C and under relevant sections of the PAT Regulation,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
