Port Blair, Apr 29: The Secretary IP&T, Mr. S K Singh informed today said that altogether five flights landed at Veer Savarkar International Airport today in which 459 passengers arrived at Port Blair and among these 459, total 09 passengers (08 islanders and 01 non-islander) have been tested COVID-19 positive.
Addressing a press conference today at IP&T Conference hall, Mr. Singh said that as far as vaccination drives are concerned, altogether 523 beneficiaries have been vaccinated today till 2:00 PM.
Mr. Singh further mentioned that part of Shadipur has been declared as a Containment Area. “I would like to point out that though the Administration is doing its best, it is necessary the general public should also follow all the COVID-19 guidelines, take all precautionary measures, wear masks properly and maintain social distancing at public places,” the Secretary added.
“The basic aim of Andaman and Nicobar Administration is to reduce Covid-19 cases and bring situation under control, as number of cases recorded on daily bases are increasing day by day, it is good that the number of discharged patients are also increasing simultaneously otherwise it would have been difficult for Administration to control, but if cases increase on daily basis, then it won’t take time to become the situation worse”.
“I appeal to all the citizens that guidelines issued by the government regarding COVID-19 virus should be followed strictly and people should not get out of their house unless and until it is necessary,” the Secretary added.
Later talking to the media, Dr. Amitabh De today said 43 patients are on Oxygen supply support at present and no patient is on ventilator support.
