
Port Blair, Apr 27: In a major breakthrough, the team of AFEVS unit (Mobile Squad) consisting of Mr S P Roy Dy. Ranger, Mr Baiju M Nair Forester, Mr M Shabbir Forest Guard and Mr Basant Lall Forest Guard along with six mazdoors Mr Ranjan Halder, Mr Anup Mistry, Mr Sanjay Mondal, Mr Ashrafuddin, Mr N Azhagu, Mr M Panchavarnam on 26/04/2021, on a tip off searched & detected about 47 pieces of illegal hand sawn timber (category-II) measuring about 0.745 Cbm from the forest area of Lauki Nallah lying hidden In the bushes. After a massive search the offender could not be traced out and as such the timber were seized under relevant sections of Indian Forest Act 1927 & brought to Range office Betapur. After verifying the testimony the seized timber were handed over to Range officer Betapur along with case related documents in original for further proceedings of the case.
The entire operation took place under the guidance of Mr. Vijay Kishen, Forest Ranger Mobile Squad Rangat & under overall direction and supervision of Mr. Satyaprakash Singh, IFS Divisional Forest Officer, Middle Andaman Forest Division.
Middle Andaman Forest Division has zero tolerance against any offence related to Wildlife or Forest and any other anti-social activities which prevails in the Reserved Forest area/Protected areas.
