Port Blair, Apr 04: Following heavy rain in few places of North and Middle Andaman, dozens of vehicles got stuck in muddy roads of ATR on Friday and Sunday, because of which these vehicles reached Baratang Jetty very late.
On Friday four passenger buses including two STS buses, two private buses and several other four wheelers from Diglipur region reached Baratang by 7.00 PM. As per sources these vehicles got stuck once at Kishorinagar area of Diglpur and twice at Baratang Island’s Adazig and Lorozig areas.
Similarly today two buses, one truck and one four wheeler reached Baratang by 3.30 PM due to bad roads.
According to passengers, police team of PS Baratang exhibited tremendous amount of sensitivity towards the passengers and arranged special convoys for the vehicles, after taking permission from Tribal Welfare Department.
As per sources on Friday all stranded vehicles at Baratang were cleared from Middle Strait by 7.30 PM while today by 4.30 PM all four stranded vehicles were allowed to travel towards Jirkatang in special convoy, after taking due permission from Tribal Welfare Department.
On Friday police jawans of PS Baratang were seen on duty till 7.30 PM at Middle Strait to make sure all stranded vehicles are cleared.
Many passengers expressed gratitude towards police department for all assistance while many others demanded a help desk by department of Tribal Welfare, where stranded passengers of ATR can contact for any kind help, in case their vehicle is stranded in ATR for any emergency situation.
