Port Blair, Mar 31: Troubled by indiscriminate power cuts, dozens of people of Swaraj Dweep today gathered infront of Electricity Office of Govind Nagar and staged a dharna, demanding uninterrupted power supply.
According to sources, since past 10 days People of Swaraj Dweep have been witnessing multiple power cuts in a day. The general public alleged that they are witnessing almost 5 to 6 hours power cuts on daily bases. During the dharna people of Swaraj Dweep also shouted slogans against Electricity Department.
Meanwhile Mr. Hari Kallikkat, IAS, South Andaman called the agitating people and over phone and assured them to sort out this problem, following which public called off the dharna.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted Mr. Ajith Kumar, former Pradhan of the region said that since last 10 days there is massive power outrage in the Island, which is causing deep incontinence to public. Administration must sort out the problem immediately otherwise people of Swaraj Dweep will stage protest again,” he added
