Port Blair, Mar 25: The Administration endeavours to protect Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) and keep them safe from COVID-19 pandemic. Keeping this in mind, the Administration has taken a number of proactive steps especially restriction of convoy in the Andaman Trunk Road passing through Jarawa reserve to contain spread of COVID-19 infection among the tribes especially Jarawa tribes who are more exposed to non-tribal passing through Andaman Trunk Road (ATR) and fishermen on the west coast.
The Administration has now decided to re-schedule the convoy timing from 29.3.2021 onwards for the ease of general public.
1) Only Two (02) convoys per day as per the following schedule shall be allowed:-
First Convoy Second Convoy
*Jirkatang to Middle Strait- First Convoy- 0830 Hours – Second Convoy- 1400 Hours
*Middle Strait to Jirkatang – First Convoy- 0630 Hours – Second Convoy- 1430 Hours
2) Maximum 90 vehicles will be allowed in each convoy. The morning convoy comprises of 6 STS buses and 84 other vehicles and the afternoon convoy would include 15 vehicles of NHIDCL and the remaining 75 would be for general purpose.
3) All persons availing convoy from Port Blair to North & Middle Andaman District shall undergo Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) at PHC Ferrargunj as per the following rates: –
(i) General Public Rs. 100/- per head
(ii) Driver & one attendant of cargo vehicle Rs. 100/- per head
(iii) Medical patient along with an attendant Rs. Nil
(iv) Govt servant on official duty Rs. Nil
