Port Blair, Mar 24: Together with the rest of the country, Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society has observed World Tuberculosis Day on 24th March 2021 at Conference Hall, ANACS. To observe the day an awareness programme was organized for all the staff of ANACS.
Dr. M. Joy, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society (ANACS) explained the theme of World TB Day 2021 – “The Clock is Ticking” – conveys the sense that the world is running out of time to act on the commitments to end TB made by global leaders. Tuberculosis is a serious health threat, especially for people living with HIV. People living with HIV are more likely than others to become sick with TB. Worldwide, TB is one of the leading causes of death among people living with HIV.
Opportunistic infections in general are a threat to people living with HIV (PLHIV). The precautions for warding – off HIV infections and TB to be strictly followed.
