Port Blair, Mar 24: Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands in on a visit to North and Middle Andaman District. Mr. Ajoy Bairagi met the Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman yesterday at her office at Mayabunder and discussed some serious issues of Islanders with her. Mr. Uttam Kumar Shah and Mr. Shyamal Bhowmik senior leaders of BJP were also present with Mr. Ajoy Bairagi during the meeting with the Deputy Commissioner.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi discussed the issue of scarcity of drinking water in Diglipur with the Deputy Commissioner. He explained to the Deputy Commissioner that there is acute shortage of drinking water in Diglipur and it is the start of the summer season and the situation will only worsen with time.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi further raised the issue of load shredding in Diglipur, North and Middle Andaman. He explained to the Deputy Commissioner that load shredding is being done in Diglipur and the worst sufferers are the students who have exams in coming months. He requested the Deputy Commissioner to intervene in the issue and get it solved for the benefit of the students and the general population.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi further raised the issue of poor mobile network connectivity with the Deputy Commissioner. He explained to the Deputy Commissioner that the general public of Diglipur have never faced such poor network connectivity and even after the launch of the Submarine OFC BSNL has not been able to provide better telecommunication services to the residents of Diglipur. He requested the Deputy Commissioner to intervene in the issue.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi further raised the issue of charging Rs. 100/- for Rapid Antigen Testing for COVID-19 for residents travelling to and from North and Middle Andaman District. He explained to the Deputy Commissioner that COVID-19 pandemic has created a void in the lives of the residents of the District financially and the Administration charging Rs. 100 for RAT is also affecting the people negatively. He requested the Deputy Commissioner to consider free RAT for the residents of North and Middle Andaman District.
The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the State President of Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and assured to look into each of the issue raised.
