Port Blair, Mar 15: As a part of the commemoration of 75 years of independence, the Government of India is celebrating “ Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” in the year 2021. The “ Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” was launched on 12/03/2021, the day to mark the anniversary of ‘Dandi March’. In view of the direction of NALSA, a legal awareness programme was organized on 12/03/2021 at 04:00 PM in the Community Hall of Kalighat Gram Panchayat, Diglipur by the Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee, North & Middle Andaman in association with District Legal Services Authority, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. A large number of people including Adivasi people of Ranchi community, Learned Advocates from Bar Association, Mayabunder, Learned Additional Public Prosecutor -cum- Govt. Pleader, Learned Special Public Prosecutor under POCSO Act, govt. officials, ex- PRI members, women folks participated the program.
Further, the program was commenced with the introductory speech of Shri. Keshab Chandra Mondal, Special Public Prosecutor under POCSO Act and thereafter, Shri. Uttam Kirtania, Additional Public Prosecutor -cum- Govt Pleader, Shri. Vikramjit Sen, Judicial Magistrate First Class, Mayabunder & Circuit Court at Diglipur and finally, Shri. Jimut Bahan Biswas, Additional District & Sessions Judge -cumChairman, Sub- Divisional Legal Services Committee, Mayabunder also spoke on the topics of POCSO Act, fundamental rights, history of ‘Dandi March’ with special focus on the rights of tribal people in India etc. followed by interaction session was held with the participants wherein various doubts were cleared. The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks by Sub- Inspector P. Jeevan, SHO, PS Kalighat.
