Port Blair, Mar 10: Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises has recently enacted Udyam Registration vide its Notification No. S.O. 2119(E), dated 26th June, 2020 as a part of facilitating the Ease Of Doing Business initiatives and reduced the transaction time and cost for the Micro, Small and Medium enterprises.
Under this provision, all the existing enterprises registered with the District Industries Centre, Department of Industries, Port Blair under various registration schemes such as SSI, Entrepreneurs Memorandums, Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum etc are required to re-register under Udyam Registration.
The Udyam Registrations can be obtained without GST Number and Permanent Account Number (PAN) till 31st March, 2021. After that the exemption without GSTN and PAN will end and from 1st April, 2021onwards for Udyam Registration GSTN and PAN will be mandatory. Those registered on or after 1st July 2020 till 31st March, 2021 without GSTN and PAN have to upload and link their GSTN and PAN mandatorily on or before 31st March, 2021 to remain valid and avoid cancelation.
The Udyam Registration is not applicable for proposed units, it is only for re-registration of existing enterprises and those ventures/activities which have commenced commercial production or services. Besides, it is to clarify that except the Governmental Udyam Registration Portal (https://udyamregistration.gov.in) no other private portal is authorized to provide Udyam Registration. This is a free service provided by the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India. No private agency or person has been authorized to do MSME registration.
