Port Blair, Mar 07: Many Islanders of Great Nicobar, who had applied for a ticket for MV Coral Queen, which is supposed to sail for Port Blair from Campbell Bay tomorrow, have complained that their names did not appear in the final list for issuing tickets for the vessel, despite the fact that they urgently need to travel to Port Blair.
They alleged that even names of some college students, who need to travel to Port Blair for various purposes, did not appear in the said list, prepared by AC office Campbell Bay.
Some passengers, who got tickets, complained that the tickets are not issued as per their choice for ordinary or deluxe cabins. Already the numbers of cabins are limited in MV Coral Queen and hence for a common man getting a cabin ticket is out of the question, these days. “All decisions are taken by AC office staffs and the present system lacks transparency. We demand a transparent ticket issuing system in which tickets are issued on a first come first serve basis,” said a passenger, waiting for a ticket.
Andaman Sheekha Correspondent made several calls to the Assistant Commissioner of Campbell Bay for a comment on this issue but the phone was switched off all evening.
