Port Blair, Oct 17: The Union Defence Minister, A K Antony paid a brief visit to Port Blair this morning while returning from Indonesia. During his brief halt at Port Blair, he visited the headquarters of Andaman and Nicobar Command and discussed with the Commander in Chief, Lt Gen N C Marwah and other senior defence officers on important issues.
The Defence Minister returned from Indonesia today after completion of his three day visit to the country from Monday. He went to Indonesia along with a 10 member delegation to participate in the first biennial dialogue at the level of Defence Ministers.
According to official sources from Indian Embassy at Jakarta, Antony held bilateral meetings with his Indonesian Counterpart Purnomo Yusgiantoro and discussed on bilateral cooperation in the defence sector. He also presented the report of the 3rd Joint Defence Cooperation Committee, which suggested the possible areas of cooperation in the defence sector, such as operation and exercises, Peace keeping, couter-terrrorism operation , education and training.
