Mayabunder, Feb 18: Delay in arrival of Bitumen has now delayed the ATR Rehabilitation and up-gradation works in Mayabunder region. According to sources the ongoing work between Webi village and Rest Camp and also in the ATR stretch in Mohanpur, Kishorinagar & Nimbudera areas has been hit due to non availability of Bitumen.
When contacted an official of NHIDCL told Andaman Sheekha, Daily, that they are expecting that Bitumen will reach Mayabunder region by end of February 2021 and then final Rehabilitation and up-gradation works will completed in above mentioned stretches.
He said that instead of wasting time the NH contractors are completing all earth works and soil stabilization works before end of February so that when Bitumen arrives, the final works are completed in no time. Sources told Andaman Sheekha Daily, transportations problems of Bitumen from Mainland to Port Blair caused this delay.
