Port Blair, Feb 16: Under National TB Elimination Programme, the State TB Control Society, Port Blair organized awareness programme on TB & New Treatment Strategy DOTs at Anganwadi Centre Manjery to create awareness among the general public of the area. Mr. Tapan Kumar Ray ,IEC Officer, STBCS spoke in detail about the transmission ,clinical manifestation, prevention and control of TB. The public was also sensitized about TB/ HIV co-infection, the illeffects of alcoholism and smoking particularly in relation to the treatment of TB, and spoke about incentives given to the patient during the treatment under NIKSHAY Poshan Yojana. Mr. Dilip Kumar (STS) Senior Treatment Supervisor attached to NTEP talked on basic facts of TB. The gathering was urged to propagate the message to the neighbourhood and in the community, a press release from Joint Secretary (RNTCP) said.
