Staff Correspondent Port Blair, Feb 12: The COVID-19 vaccination with COVISHIELD will be administered for the Frontline Workers at Port Blair w.e.f 13.02.2021 after receipt of 30,000 doses of COVISHILED vaccine from MoHFW on 11.02.2021. In the first stage the Police personnel of South Andaman will be administered with the vaccine at Police Training School, Prothrapur at 9.00 AM onwards. About 300 personnel will be targeted for vaccination on the first day. Elaborate arrangement has been made by DHS along with ANP for the program. Mr. Ravi Kumar, SP South Andaman District and Mr. Machael Raj, DySP and Vice Principal PTS will supervise the program while Dr Avijit Roy and Dr Rajiv Ghosh will facilitate the program with the help of Dr Rohit State Project Officer, UNDP and other Health Care staffs. The vaccination of the Sanitary worker of PBMC and frontline workers of South Andaman District Administration & PRI will follow the Vaccination of Police Personnel. Meanwhile the vaccine consignment will be delivered to other islands by next week and the frontline workers including Police, Paramilitary, Sanitation Workers and Frontline workers under District Administration and PRI will be undertaken accordingly. Further, the second dose of COVID19 vaccine will be administered to Health Care workers with effect from 15.02.2021 after completion of 28 days of administration of first dose.
