Port Blair, Feb 04: In a shocking development, nearly 250 tribal people gathered infront of Car Nicobar Police Station today protesting against seizure of vehicle of tribal people.
It is known to everyone that people of Car Nicobar are always peaceful but today nearly 250 people came out of their home to protest against the move of Nicobar Administration to seize a vehicle of Tribal People, in which some Nicobar Women were reportedly collecting sand from tribal land for their own use.
As per details some protesting people were carrying stones and were even ready for stone pelting but later when Police team of Car Nicobar explained them that the vehicle was only brought to Car Nicobar Police station as per orders of Assistant Commissioner but was not officially seized, the crowd went towards AC office and expressed their anger.
Tribal People were fuming because on Tribal Land the tribal people were treated like criminals. The third captain of Perka Village was present with the protesting people.
Finally the District Administration had to release the vehicle of Tribal people without taking any action after which the tribal people went back to their homes by 4.30 PM. Andaman Sheekha tried to contact the Deputy Commissioner of Car
Nicobar to get a comment in this regard but he was unavailable to
comment over phone and messages.
