Port Blair, Jan 31: Union Territory of A&N Islands has organized Single round of National Immunization Day for Polio in the entire Territory today and during this drive many people noticed that many Anganwadi Workers were wearing Black Ribbon, as a protest for non-payment of their monthly salary since last 6 months.
According to Anganwaid workers they get nearly Rs. 9000 as monthly salary while the Anganwadi Helpers get Rs. 7000 as monthly salary and since last six to seven months these Anganwadi workers and Helpers are getting only half salary. They also made it clear that this silent protest will continue till they get their salary.
