Port Blair, Jan 29: Anganwadi workers affiliated to Anganwadi Karmachari Sandh have decided to stage symbolic protest from 31st January 2021, which is National Immunization Day for Polio 2021, against non payment of their monthly salary since last 6 months. As per details the workers will wear black ribbon while performing their regular duties as a mark of protest.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, English Daily, a few Anganwadi Workers today said that Anganwadi Worker gets nearly Rs. 9000 as monthly salary while the Anganwadi Helper gets Rs. 7000 as monthly salary and since last six to seven months these Anganwadi workers and Helpers are getting only half salary.
They added that even the room rent, which they are supposed to get from Government of India is also not paid since last nearly one year hence many Anganwadi centers are now facing closer.
They added that they met several senior officers of Social Welfare but till now their problems have not been resolved.
From 31st January 2021 we will start our protest of wearing black ribbon and will continue till we get our due salary. We will also continue our normal duties.
