Port Blair, Jan 07: Just when people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands had breathed a sigh of relief, because of decreasing number of COVID-19 cases in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a major shocker came from Little Andaman today, when at many as seven people were tested COVID-19 positive.
As per details all these people were tested positive after they came for Rapid Antigen testing site today at Hut Bay before availing the sailing of MV Coral Queen for Port Blair, scheduled on 9th Jan 2021.
Sources said among seven, who were tested positive today, two are women and one patient is a child.
When contacted the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, Mr. Suneel Anchipaka today said that the District Administration is sending additional staffs including medical staffs tomorrow to Hut Bay in Helicopter to contain the situation.
He also informed that contact tracing is presently on.
Meanwhile, sources in Hut Bay told Andaman Sheekha that all positive cases have been shifted to Covid Care Centre and their family members have been quarantined.
Off late a lot of travel from Little Andaman to Port Blair and vise versa have been witnessed recently, which might be the reason behind this increase in number of cases.
