Port Blair, Jan 04: The normal traffic flow of Andaman Trunk Road from Middle Andaman towards Port Blair was disrupted today when two vehicles got stuck on the Muddy road of Adazig area of Baratang Island.
According to details the first vehicle reportedly got stuck at the Sub-Center area of Adazig last night at around 7 PM but as there was some space for other vehicles to pass, the first vehicle was not salvaged at night.
Sadly in the morning another vehicle got stuck, near the first vehicle this morning, blocking the Andaman Trunk Road completely.
As per ATR passengers, due to negligent attitude of NHIDCL contactors, they had to wait for several hours at Adazig to reach Middle Strait, worst sufferers were those who started from Diglipur and Mayabunder region at the wee hours today to reach Middle Strait before 9.30 AM to get the first convoy, but sadly all stranded vehicles had to miss the 9.30 AM first convoy.
Due to this disruption, in the first convoy of ATR today there were hardly seven vehicles from Middle Strait.
Later the NHIDCL contractors were able to clear the road by 10.00 AM and by 11.00 AM an especial convoy was allowed to pass through Jarawa Reserve Area of ATR for the stranded vehicles.
Fuming ATR passengers alleged that negligent working style of NHIDCL contractors led to such crisis situation and this is not the first such case at Baratang.
Earlier two such cases were reported from Baratang Island. Public demands that the NHIDCL contractors should station two cranes on the Nilambur as well as on the Gandhi Ghat ends of Baratang Island so that in case of any such road block, the stuck vehicles can be removed in no time.
