Port Blair, Dec 30: Andaman Sheekha, daily had earlier highlighted that condition of a particular stretch of Andaman Trunk Road, between Jirkatang and Middle Strait and pointed out that it has developed hundreds of potholes in last 2 years and no repair works have been carried out by NHIDCL contractor yet.
Commenting on the questions raised by Andaman Sheekha, a senior officer of NHIDCL has assured that the said road will be fully repaired by this month end or by next month.
“We haven’t issued completion certificate of the road to the concerned contractors yet. In this case because of restrictions of Jarawa area, we were allowed to only overlay one layer over the existing road and reconstruction was not allowed. Once we issue completion certificate after that, for one year it will be the responsibility of the contractor to maintain the road,” he said.
