Port Blair, Dec 22: One day Training-cum-awareness programme on Cultivation of bacterial wilt resistant Brinjal varieties in rice fallow in Andaman was organised at KVK, Sippighat on 22nd December, 2020 for the welfare of the vegetable grower farmers of South Andaman. Dr. P K Singh, Principal Scientist and Head (I/c), FCI&P, CIARI was the Chief Guest of the programme. Dr. L B Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head (I/c), KVK, Dr. K Venkatesan, Scientist, Dr. V K Pandey, SMS were also present on the occasion. A total of 20 farmers (17 Male and 3 Female) were benefited from the programme. On the onset Dr. P K Singh given Chief Guest lecture and briefed about the impotence of bacterial wilt disease management and also emphasised about bacterial wilt disease resistant Brinjal variety CARI Brinjal 1 and CARI Brinjal 2 cultivation by crop selection of varieties. Dr. L B Singh spoken about the package of practices on brinjal cultivation. While Dr. K Venkatesan briefed about nursery management of brinjal cultivation and Dr. V K Pandey described about IDM and IPM techniques for management of pest and diseases in brinjal cultivation. Mr. Shyam Sundar Rao, Farm Manager, Bloomsdale Farm, M. N. Das, Technician and KVK staffs were also facilitated the programme. These programmes were conducted under over all leadership of The Director, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair under ICAR-Seed project.
