Port Blair, Oct 08: The senior members of the Tribal Councils of Teressa and Katchal met the PCC President Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma at Gandhi Bhavan on recently and appraised him of the difficulties being faced by the common public of Teressa and other Islands.
Sharma along the Chairman Tribal Council of Teressa Mr. Jonah Paul, First Captain Benher Peter and Secretary TC Abner met the Lt Governor on 6th October, 2012.
Besides other matters, Sharma discussed about the problems faced by the common people of Teressa, Chowra and Katchal in details. Mr. Sharma requested for Boats from Port Blair on every ten days gap to all these three Islands and vice versa.
Mr. Sharma has also requested to the Lt Governor to consider immediate construction of Primary Health Centre and Higher Secondary School at Terassa which were totally damaged by the Tsunami hit of 2004 and at present being run under temporary sheds.
Besides, Mr. Sharma also requested to consider construction of road from Safed Balu to Luxi Village and a foot bridge at Enam Village, proper water supply to permanent shelters, providing office infrastructures for the building of Tribal Council and Community hall situated at every village of Teressa Island.
The PCC president, gave point to point clarifications for the urgencies of the above and stated that the common people of these remote Island are looking at him for getting their long pending demands to be solved.
Mr. Sharma also advocated for considering of proper welfare measures viz health, education, sanitation, road and Islands’ connectivity etc to all the islands in the Nicobar groups of Islands. The Lt Governor has given patient hearing and assured to look into the matters.
