Port Blair, Dec 08: NCC conducted various social service and community development activities at village Namunaghar, district Ferrargunj. The village was adopted by NCC in the year 2016. Captain Vijay Kumar Trivedi, Commanding Officer 1(AN) Naval Unit NCC promoted the awareness against social evils such as female foeticide, Dowry system, Drug Abuse/Trafficking, HIV/AIDS infections etc. He highlighted the importance of Health/Hygiene, Sanitation, Environment pollution, Tree plantation and Govt. schemes such as Digital India. Col Vivekanand, Commanding Officer, 1(AN) Indep Inf Coy intimated the gathering about the importance of Social service and Communal Activities in the training of NCC cadets. Few NCC Cadets spoke about Swacchata and Constitution of India. Smt Pratima Kumari, Special Officer (Ex Pradhan) of village NamunaGhar expressed the happiness of villagers in receiving NCC cadets and appreciated their participation in Social Service Activities at their village located far away from Port Blair, despite ongoing Covid-19 pandemic situation.
NCC cadets participated in Swacch Bharat Abhiyan & Tree plantation at Namunaghar with zeal and enthusiasm.
