Port Blair, Nov 29: Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has written a letter to Secretary, Civil Aviation, Andaman and Nicobar Administration and Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman requesting them to resume the helicopter services for Shaheed Dweep (Neil Island).
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi in his letter has informed the authorities that Helicopter Services in Neil Island has not resumed post COVID-19 lockdown which is causing several issues for the Islanders.
He further explained that Shaheed Dweep is totally cut off from land and is surrounded by water and many old aged residents of Shaheed Dweep used to use the helicopter services to reach Port Blair for their treatment.
He informed the authorities that post COVID-19 pandemic the helicopter services were resumed in almost all the Islands except Shaheed Dweep. He further mentioned that it is important to facilitate the residents of Shaheed Dweep with helicopter services just like other Islands.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi finally requested the authorities to resume the helicopter services for Shaheed Dweep for the welfare of the residents.
