
Port Blair, Nov 22: NCC Day function was held yesterday at JNRM. Dr JD Singh Principal, JNRM & Tagore Colleges, was the Chief Guest of the function. Captain Vijay Kumar Trivedi Commanding Officer 1(AN) NU NCC, Port Blair welcomed the Guests and spoke about core values of NCC.
He brought out the importance of the NCC, being largest uniformed youth Organisation in the Country. He also spoke about the motto and aim of the NCC. Col Vivekananda, Commanding Officer No.1(AN) Indep Inf Coy NCC Unit, informed about various incentives of all certificates of NCC and shared his earlier rich experiences of 3 years as Commanding Officer of NCC unit in Hubli, Karnatka.
Capt Vijay Kumar Trivedi also informed the gathering about the launch of DG NCC App for benefit of cadets, online webinars for cadets, Exercise Yogdan by NCC in COVID 19 as 2nd line of defence to CAPF and various events planned related to NCC day and Constitution day.
He appreciated the attitude of ANO SLt Dr Satyam Setia in donating blood for 86th time as a Noble Cause, in line with NCC day theme of RAKT DAN JEEVAN DAN. On the Occasion of NCC day, Blood donation Camp is Organised by NCC in these islands, at JNRM today.
Rank stripes/badges were presented to the appointed holders, jointly by Capt Vijay Kumar Trivedi, CO 1 (AN) NU NCC and Col Vivekananda CO NO 1 (AN) Indep Inf Coy NCC Port Blair. Chief Guest Dr. JD Singh, Principal JNRM & Tagore Colleges, gave away the prizes to the prize winners.
He spoke to the gathering about various qualities, a NCC Cadet should imbibe, during his training. He shared his excellent experiences of his NCC days and benefits accrued by him due to NCC ‘C’ Certificate.
He also recollected the Supreme Sacrifice made by Capt Ashim Bhattacharya of these Islands during insurgency in Uri Sector. The function was attended by Capt Keshav Sharma SO(Safety) NAVCC, Col D Godara (Retd), Secretary, Rajya Sainik Board, Mr Ajay Rai DSP(Traffic) A&N Police and teams of Door Darshan & AIR Port Blair.
ANO SLt (Dr) Satyam Setia of JNRM was Master of Ceremony of the function and coordinated the function extremely well. Capt Vijay Kumar Trivedi Commanding Officer NO 1 (AN) NU NCC while thanking all the Guests, applauded the courage of NCC Cadets from these islands, in which 60 Cadets volunteered to participate in COVID 19 related duties as 2nd line of Defence, despite risks involved in the same. The function culminated with melodious NCC Song sung by NCC Cadets and all Guests present.
