Port Blair, November 12: The State President, Bharatiya Janata Kisan Morcha, Andaman, and the Nicobar Islands, Mr. Shivananda Bairagi, has said that the launch of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana has brought a tremendous positive impact on the farmers of the far-flung areas of the Islands.
“Injustice for 70 years on the farmers had come to an end as the scheme eradicated the brokers in between,” said Mr. Bairagi. Mr. Bairagi further said that after the Kisan Bill has passed, a farmer can get a loan without keeping their land on collateral today.
“We went to every nook and corner of the Islands and educated the farmers about the Kisan Bill and the facilities we can receive out of it; the farmers of the Islands are happy enough by the initiative of the government,” Mr. Bairagi added.
He said that the growth of the Agricultural development that was 0.5% in the Islands for decades would surely increase, as they are putting efforts to improve the sector furthermore. The work on the ground in Andaman and Nicobar Islands is continuously monitored by the senior party workers, “thrice in the past I have given a briefing to the Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Mr. Narendra Singh Tomar and others ministers,” said Mr. Bairagi.
