Port Blair, Nov 10: This COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in development of severe panic and fear among the people for their safety and survival and also have seriously affected the availability of adequate quantities of safe and quality blood in the Blood Centres.
In such a grievous situation prevailing, with a noble cause to ensure safe blood supply to the needy patients in this time of crisis, The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) & Bajarang Dal, A&N Islands organized Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on the occasion of “Hutatma Smriti Diwas” on 08-11-2020 Sunday at Vivekanda Kendiriya Vidyalaya campus, Lamba Line, Port Blair in commemoration of the Karsevaks who had scarified their life in Ram Janma Bhumi movement at Ayodhya.
Dr. A.K. Mondal, Director of AIIMS graced the occasion as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he praised the effort taken by VHP in organizing blood donation camp and emphasised on the need to donate blood in the ongoing pandemic situation.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Rabindranath Chatterjee, President VHP and Mr. Amit Roy, State Coordinator (Bajarang Dal) had detailed the purpose of organizing blood donation camp by VHP on this day. VHP expressed gratitude to the DHS for deploying team of officials for blood collection in the camp. Altogether 34 units of blood donated by the volunteers, workers and local youths of the Islands.
