Port Blair, Nov 11: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament has requested the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands to resume the Operation Theatre (OT) in GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair for conducting operations for the patients suffering from various ailments since no operations (excepts emergency cases) are conducitng since last two months.
He informed that more than 150 patients suffering from different ailments like Piles, Fistula, fissure, stone in gallbladder etc are waiting for undergoing surgery as per advises of the treating doctors. However, due to temporary suspension of functioning of OT (except emergency and delivery cases), these patients are facing serious health threat as except the lone Govt. GB Pant Hospital in Port Blair, no private hospitals equipped with medical facilities are available in these Islands for major surgery. Further, the economical conditions of these patients are very weak, so they are unble to go to mainland for getting treatment. Therefore, the Member of Parliament Mr. Sharma has requested the Lt. Governor to resume the operation theatre (OT) at GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair at the earliest so that the patients who are waiting for the same may undergo surgery in the GB Pant Hospital.
