Port Blair, Nov 03: In order to fight COVID-19 in a targeted manner, door to door surveillance for identification of persons with ILI/SARI symptoms has been continuing in South Andaman District.
Field staff consisting of ASHA, ANM and Anganwadi Workers are being sent for Monitoring of Body Temperature and Saturation levels. This would help in early detection and subsequent treatment. Also COVID medicine kits are being sent to the homes of ILI suspects/contacts of positive patients.
The District Administration had already conducted a field level surveillance in which around 15000 co-morbid persons were identified. These persons are being contacted by the District Administration as part of telephonic surveillance and those co-morbid persons having ILI/SARI symptoms are being monitored by the field staff and provided medicines as part of field surveillance.
Further the general public is requested to cooperate with the Administration in its fight against COVID-19 and to contact the nearest PHC or the District Control Room on 1070/102 regarding any information of suspected cases in their locality especially among co-morbid persons and also to strictly follow the two GOLDEN PRINCIPLES in the fight against COVID-19:- (1) Wear masks properly (2) Maintain social distancing/Do Gaz ki Doori.
