Port Blair, Nov 02: Deputy Commissioner (SA), Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS alongwith SDM (SA) visited the Community Health Centre at Bambooflat and the Primary Health Centres at Wimberlygunj and Garacharma to review the COVID-19 preparedness and to strengthen the field surveillance activities.
During the inspection, DC interacted with Medical Officers and local community representatives present there and appealed the co-operation of everyone in increasing the surveillance amongst the persons with co-morbidity. Further, DC urged them to strengthen the medicine kit distribution to all ILI/SARI cases and their family members. Further DC reiterated that the ILI/SARI cases should be identified in its initial stage itself to contain the further spread of infection. Also, DC appealed to the public to approach the nearest PHC or immediately contact the District Room on 1070 in case of any symptoms among their family members, relatives or neighbours.
He further visited the COVID Care Centre at DBRAIT and took stock of the working of the Centre and was satisfied with the services being provided to the inmates at the Centre. He appreciated the efforts of the doctors, health workers and all the staff working in the Centre in providing quality services.
Further DC appealed to the general public to cooperate with the Administration in its fight against COVID-19 and to contact the nearest PHC or the District Control Room regarding any information of suspected cases in their locality especially among co-morbid persons and also to strictly follow the two GOLDEN PRINCIPLES in the fight against COVID-19:- (1) Wear masks properly (2) Maintain social distancing/Do Gaz ki Doori.
