Port Blair, Oct 30: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has informed the Secretary (Social Wolfe), A&N Administration that around 1500 persons of North & Middle Andaman district have applied for enrolment in the Social Welfare department to get widow/old age pension and Destitute and Divyangan allowances which are pending in the department since November, 2019 and many more cases of South Andaman and Nicobar are also pending in the department for enrolment.
He said due to delay for enrolment, these category of persons are finding it difficult to get their daily bread and butter in the wake of COVID-19. Hence, in order to provide financial assistance to these persons, the MP requested the Secretary (SW) to expedite the enrolment of all the cases pending since November, 2019 to facilitate their livelihood.
