Port Blair, October 27: Complaints have been received from the people of Brichgunj that the Community Service Center operating in the area is overcharging for the electricity bills. As per the residents of the area, for every electricity bill, the CSC charges an amount of Rs 10 extra, which, as per the guidelines, no CSC must charge more than Rs 04 for services.
Surprisingly, when one of the residents of the area quizzed the CSC owner on this, instead of telling the reason behind overcharging, the CSC owner asked the resident to go and lodge complaint, wherever he can.
When contacted the Superintendent Engineer, Electricity Department he said that none of the CSCs can charge more than Rs 4 for electric bills.
Although when it was highlighted that the aforementioned CSC is charging Rs 10 extra, he said that he will take a call in this regard and also asked the cheated consumers to register a complaint in this regard in the consumer redressal forum. The mockery is that the CSC also openly mentions in the bill that they have charged Rs 10 extra.
