Port Blair, October 19: Extreme weather conditions forced a Cargo ship ‘INCI’ with Mongolian flag to take shelter near Port Blair Port yesterday early morning.
As per details ,the ship left from Malaysia for Sri lanka on the 13th October 2020, but as per crew members of the ship due to extreme weather at sea, the ship in distress came near Port Blair port for a safe shelter.
The 57.6 mtr long and 9.5 mtr wide cargo ship with nearly 191 MT of cargo is currently in anchor near the Ross Island.
As per sources, the authorities have decided to conduct a COVID test of all the five crew members and once the result of the test is out, a joint interrogation will be carried out, most probably tomorrow, on the ship.
However the Captain of the ship has urged the local administration to send only those officials onboard the ship, who have been tested COVID-19 negative, for the safety of the crew members.
According to reliable sources, once the interrogation report is submitted to the administration, it will be then decided by them whether to release the ship or not.
“A joint interrogation will be carried out to check whether the claims made by the sailors are true, and whether they aren’t carrying any illegal cargo,” sources said.
