Port Blair, Oct 15: Since last few days people of Wimberlygunj and Bambooflat region have been expressing their disappointment over pathetic condition of roads by casting fishing nets and planting Banana plants in the mega pot-holes of the main road.
Such move of public show that the Islanders have lost hope on the Administration, which is till now silent on this crucial issue, neglecting the problems of thousands of people, who commute through the road on daily basis.
Along with Andaman Sheekha, Daily, almost all local media have raised this issue multiple times in local newspapers but till now no visible action has been taken to repair the road. Sadly there is no move to even temporarily fill the pot-holes to ensure safety and convenience of road users.
Earlier residents of the area had expressed their resentment in various ways but till now they have only got the assurances that the road will be repaired soon.
It seems that anger is brewing among the residents of South Andaman and anytime the anger may take a dangerous shape.
This press today tried to contact senior officers of Andaman Public Work Department to get an official quote in thiss regard this evening but they were unavailable for a comment in this regard, which also shows how accessible the Administration is,for the public and media.
There was a time in Andaman when top level officers used to visit spot and solve public issues in no time by making surprise visit but now such public friendly approach of Administration is unimaginable. Hope someday some senior officers will be able to find some time to travel through the said roads of South Andaman area and will realize how difficult this is for the public to commute through such roads on daily basis.
