Port Blair, Oct 01: Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society observed NATIONAL VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION DAY on the 1st October, 2012 with the theme- “Somewhere someone needs you, your blood donation is precious” at a function at JNRM College, Port Blair which was inaugurated by Dr. Iqubal Ahmed, Principal, JNRM, Port Blair who was the Chief Guest. Around 40 units of Blood were donated by the voluntary students and lecturers.
Dr. Navin Govind, Deputy Director (Blood Safety), ANACS welcomed the chief guest and the gathering and highlighted on the What’s and How’s of Donating Blood.
The chief guest Dr. Iqubal Ahmed, Principal, JNRM, Port Blair in his speech he encouraged the students to come forward and donate blood voluntarily being the youth and energy of India. He further emphasized that the blood is very precious in the sense that it saves another precious life since there is no alternative of blood in this universe.
Dr. Satyam Setia for being one of the leading blood donors of these Islands donated blood for the fifty- Seventh (57) times.
